Virginia (Willie) Bates

         Virginia Willie Bates, 82, of Lawrenceburg, died Thursday, June 6, 2024 at Signature Healthcare Center at Heritage Hall.

          She was born in Jefferson County to the late John and Mabel Bowman Johnson.

          Virginia is survived by one son, John (Tanya) Bates, of Louisville; two daughters, Mabel L. (Lance) Hamilton, of Lawrenceburg and Loretta Lynn (Bruce) Routt, of Hodgenville, KY; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren: and 7 great-great-grandchildren.

          Along with her parents she was preceded in death by husbands, George McNear and Edward Bates; and 3 children, Charles Lee McNear, Sr., Mary Ashlock, and Jesse Bates.

          A celebration of her life will be Wednesday, June 12, 2024 at Noon & Son Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m. A visitation will be held prior from 12-2 p.m. on Wednesday.
