Dr. Ruth Yvonne Walker was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on November 11, 1950, to James & Helen Smith Sr. (both deceased). She entered eternal life on June 21, 2023.
She leaves to cherish her memories three children, Trina Boateng and Bradley Roberts of Conyers, GA, and Venrique (Malissa) Roberts of Stockbridge, GA; Grandchildren Whitney, Demetrius, Tiara, Matthew (deceased), Justin, Tyree, Sharron, Yvonne, Deion, Amanda, Ashley, and Autumn; Great Grandchildren Adrianna, Stefan, Brianna, and Ethan; Three sisters Sandra Maxberry of Lawrenceburg, Dedrea (Roderick) Mccoy of Frankfort, and Pamela (Anthony) Kniffley of Charlotte NC; four brothers William (Helen) Cunningham of San Diego CA, James (Kathy) Smith Jr of Orlando FL, Charles (Rose) Smith of Springfield, and Edward Smith of Lawrenceburg. She is also survived by a host of loving aunts, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Dr. Walker began her passion as a nursing professional by completing Blackhawk College, Associates Degree in Nursing; McKendree University, Bachelor of Science, Nursing; Indiana Wesleyan University, Masters of Science Nursing, Nurse Education Tract; and Capella University, Ph.D., Nursing Education Specialization in which she graduated with Distinction. She acquired several levels of Clinical Experience by maintaining employment with Woodford County Hospital; Frankfort Regional Medical Center; Cabinet for Health and Family Services; kickstarting her career in Nursing. Dr. Walker noted affiliations were the American Nurse Association, the Kentucky Nurse Association, the Association of Black Nursing Faculty, and the National Association for Healthcare Quality.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 3, 2023 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Daniel Murphy, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. prior to the service.
