Roy Smallwood, Jr.

Roy Smallwood, Jr., 92, of Lawrenceburg, widower of Bertie Mae Smallwood, died Sunday, December 18, 2022 at Baptist Health in Lexington.

          He was born in Hamilton, OH to the late Roy Smallwood, Sr. and Alice Horn Smallwood. Mr. Smallwood was a member at First Baptist Church; obtained a Bachelors Degree in Economics from University of Kentucky; retired from the KY Department of Revenue where he worked as a Tax Clerk; a former Kentucky State Trooper for 10 years; and owned and operated Dealer Tire for 10 years. In his spare time he was an active part of Gideons International.

          Roy is survived by two children, Deborah Henderson and Jeffrey Randall Smallwood, both of Lawrenceburg; 3 grandchildren, Laura (Tommy) Johnson, Lawrenceburg; Wesley (Taylor) Henderson, Lexington and Austin (Alison) Smallwood, Biloxi, MS; 2 sisters, Barbara Sizemore, Springboro, OH and Carol (Benny) Trail, Wilmington, OH; 3 brothers, Donald Smallwood, Lexington, Wayne (Cheryl) Smallwood, Louisville, and Leroy (Kay) Smallwood, Louisville; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Mike and Emily Les.

          Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a grandson, Stephen Smallwood; and siblings, Irene Hubbard, FD Smallwood, Leo Smallwood and Teddy Smallwood.

          A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, December 22, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church in the Fireside Room.
