J.D. Chilton, Sr., 78, widower of Janet Stockton Chilton passed away April 30, 2026, at his residence in Lawrenceburg. He was born March 1, 1948, to the late Earl and Katherine Short Chilton.
J.D. was a farmer and a graduate of Mercer County High School and a member of Claylick United Methodist Church. He also served in the United States Army.
Survived by his two children, John Chilton, Jr. (Laura) and Tasha Harrod (Mike) all of Lawrenceburg; Grandchildren, Cody Becknell, Ian, Andrew, and Aaron Chilton, Austin and Tanner Watts, Cameron and Cole Harrod. 8 Great Grandchildren; Brothers, Lois Chilton, and BR Chilton (Kathy) of Salvisa, Sisters, Christine Nichols, of Salvisa, Alice McGaughey, and Carolyn Catlett of Lawrenceburg, Clara Bleier of Versailles, and Marie Combs (David) of Harrodsburg.
Along with his parents and wife, J.D. was preceded in death by his brother, Earl Lee Chilton.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at Noon & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at Noon & Son Funeral Home and after 9:00 AM Wednesday until time of service.
Burial will follow in Hebron Cemetery with full military honors. Dallas Daniels will be officiating. Pallbearers will include all his grandsons.
