Gladys Blanch Caldwell York, born May 3, 1917, daughter of the late Charles N. Caldwell and Betty Satterly Caldwell and widow of the late Roy York died Sunday, May 15, 2022 at Hometown Manor in Lawrenceburg.
A native of Lawrenceburg, KY. She was a member of First Christian Church since 1929 and taught Sunday School in the Junior Department for many years. She was also a member of the Verna Bond Circle and former choir member. She was a former den mother for the Cub Scouts. A member and past Matron of the order of Easter Star, Hamilton Chapter 293, Lawrenceburg.
She is survived by four grandchildren, Richard York and his wife Elizabeth of Lawrenceburg, Charlotte Murray and her husband Clyde of Frankfort, Melinda Niemann and her husband Tom of Louisville, and Jennifer Redmon and her husband Phillip of Louisville, great-grandchildren, Kara Murray, Kate Fryar, Evan and Avery Redmon, Leah, Seth, and Todd Niemann, great-great daughter, Evelyn Doligale, half-brother, Roger Caldwell, and two daughters-in-law, Cathy York of Louisville and Ruth Herndon of Lexington.
Proceeded in death by her husband of 62 years Roy York, two sons, James W. and Robert B. York, daughter-in-law Vicki York, three brothers, Earl, Raymond and J.S. Caldwell, one sister, Audry Caldwell Riddell, three half-sisters, Betty Robinson, Jean Hawkins, Susan Ritchey, one half-brother, Jonnie Caldwell.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 20, 2022 at Lawrenceburg Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Jim Wheeler officiating. Gash Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
