George Saffell Hudson, Jr., 97, of Harrodsburg, widower of Mary Eliza Linton Hudson, died Saturday, April 30, 2022 at his daughter’s residence.
He was born in Anderson County to the late George Saffell Hudson, Sr. and Lacy Hudson Logan. He was a graduate of Westside High School; WWII US Army Veteran; and worked in the restaurant industry for many years as a waiter and operated The Wheel Tavern in Lawrenceburg.
Mr. Hudson is survived by his daughter, Delois (Rodney) Welch, of Danville; 2 grandchildren, Latonya (Carlos) Phillips, of Greenville, SC and Tamara Neal, Atlanta, GA; 4 great-grandchildren, CJ (Carman) Phillips, Benjamin Phillips, Andru Phillips and Shelby Phillips; brother, Larry (Barbara) Hudson; two sisters, Cheryl Guthrie and Ann Barbara Logan, all of Lawrenceburg; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and special friend, Linda Bixler, of Lawrenceburg.
Along with his parents and wife he is preceded in death by his sisters, Jane Hudson, Peggy Warren; and brothers, Albert Michael Hudson, William Thomas Hudson, Donald Earl Hudson, Jewell Logan and Robert Logan.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Gash Memorial Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. John K. Cunningham officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be from 12-1 p.m. prior to the service on Thursday.
Casket bearers will be Dupree Gill, Amos Searcy, Randy Hudson, Dale Hudson, CJ Phillips, Benjamin Phillips, Larry Hudson, Brian Hudson, Andru Phillips and Cedric Ponds.
