Franco Ogentho, 48, husband for 13 years to Erica Gail Harvey Ogentho, of Lexington, died Wednesday, October 13, 2021 at Baptist Health in Lexington.
Franco was born in Arua, Uganda to the late Paul Ogentho and Veronica Mave. He was employed by Pepsi where he helped in the warehouse and assembly; a veteran of the military in his country; and a former junior welterweight boxer. He won the silver medal for boxing in the 1996 Olympics and was the first medalist for his country.
Along with his wife he is survived by six children, Michael Ogentho, Innoxton Brown, Kanta “Innocent” Ogentho, Christine Ogentho, all of Kampala, Uganda, and Alex Harvey Ogentho and Isaac Ogentho, both of Lexington; eight grandchildren; more than twenty siblings in Uganda; and best friend, Tony, of Brooklyn, New York.
Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2021 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Blue officiating. Visitation 9-11 a.m. prior to the service.
