Wilma G. Thompson, 86, wife of 67 years soon-to-be 68 years on January 27, 2019 to Wallace Thompson, of Lawrenceburg, died Saturday, December 15, 2018 at Baptist Health in Lexington.
She was born in Mercer County to the late Jim and Lillian Overstreet Waterfill Gash. Wilma was a member at First Baptist Church; attended Joy Sunday School Class; spent many years as Sunday School Director at Alton Baptist Church; she worked for several years as a supervisor at Florida Tile; and worked at the Mrs. Cox Shop for many years.
Along with her husband she is survived by three children, Kaye (Larry) Etherington, Tim (Dawn) Thompson, and William Lee Thompson, all of Lawrenceburg; 8 grandchildren, Matthew (Wendi) Etherington, Melissa (Brad) Burton, Michael (Jenny) Etherington, Will Thompson, Weslee Thompson, Brandon Ashur, Hannah (Jeff) Harley, Alex Thompson, and Devin Ecklar; and 7 great-grandchildren, Sophie Etherington, Hayley Etherington, Canon Etherington, Lyndon Burton, Brody Etherington, Melody Joy Etherington, and Tyler Phillips.
Wilma was preceded in death by 22 brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Dr. Robert F. Ehr and Dr. Larry Mattox officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrenceburg Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Monday.
Casket bearers will be Matthew Etherington, Michael Etherington, Brad Burton, Jeff Harley, Alex Thompson, Will Thompson, Weslee Thompson, and Bob Sparrow. Honorary bearers will be the Joy Sunday School Class.
