William C. “Coach” Sayre, age 71, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, October 22, 2018 at Signature Healthcare.
Mr. Sayre was born in Anderson County to the late Marion C. and Verna Bell Thompson Sayre. He was a graduate of Anderson High School; veteran of the U.S. Marine Reserves; member of Ninevah Christian Church; and retired from Fruit of the Loom as a supervisor.
Billy is survived by a brother, Lee (Barbara) Sayre, Lawrenceburg; three sisters, Betty Kirby and Alice Haden, both of Lawrenceburg, and Helen (Elwood) Harris, Frankfort; nieces, Jeannie (Mike) Wainscott, Barbara A. Satterly, and Dana Haden, all of Lawrenceburg; and nephew, Jeff (Reca) Kirby, of Benton.
He was preceded in death by a niece, Heather Harris Bruser.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. George Smith and Bro. Will Cooper officiating. Burial with full military honors will follow in the Alton Cemetery. Visitation 11-1 p.m. Thursday.
Casket bearers will be Ott Elliot, Mike Ward, Larry Williams, Tom Smith, Jerry Crawford, Lloyd Rucker, and Jerry Fuller. Honorary bearers will be Ron Whitaker, Justin Wainscott, Josh Satterly, Jeremy Satterly, Mike Wainscott, Jeannie Wainscott, Jeff Kirby, Barbara Ann Satterly, Dana Haden, Alex Bruser, Lori Gammons, Jessica Walls, Jason Rowland, JW Kirby, and Marshall Satterly.
