Vernell Thompson (Sanford) Devine

          Vernell Thompson Sanford Devine, 61, of Georgetown, died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at her residence.

         Mrs. Devine was born in Mercer County to George Lawrence and Onita Ruth Thompson Sanford, both of Lawrenceburg.  She graduated from both UK and EKU and was a retired elementary school principal.

         Along with her parents, Vernell is survived by her husband of 38 years, David Kenton Devine; daughter, Susan Emily Devine, both of Georgetown; son, Kenton Scott (Ali) Devine; grandson, Kenton Channing “KC” Fassas, all of Lexington; sister, Jan Sanford (Steve) Childers, Lawrenceburg; and brother, Jesse Powell (Verlinda) Sanford, Salvisa.

         Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 26, 2017 at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Jamie Pate officiating.  Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery.  Visitation 5-8 p.m. Friday and prior to services on Saturday.

         Pall bearers will be Steve Childers, Dustin Flannery, Zach Roe, Steven Harmon, George and Ryan Springate.  Honorary bearers will be Ed, Kristan, and Leslie Schellhaas, Fred Noel, Courtney Flannery, Lauren Roe, and Andrew Fassas.
