Travers Steuart Vance, 86, of Lawrenceburg, died Monday, July 1, 2019 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Indianapolis, IN to the late Kenneth Warren and Alice Pearl Bean Vance. Travers was a member of a Presbyterian Church; graduate of Millers High School in Detroit, MI; graduate of Lincoln Institute; former warehouse manager for Kentucky State University; US Army Veteran that served during the Korean War; member of the St. Mary's Masonic Lodge #4; and former member of American Civil Liberties Union, NAACP, Southern Poverty Law Center and American Legion.
Mr. Vance is survived by his three children, Ardeana (Nick Nicholson) Vance, Atlanta, GA, Charles Vance, Detroit, MI and Cedric (Alene Gavson-Vance) Vance, of Clinton Township, MI; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; several nephews; cousins, John (Martha) Cunningham, Lawrenceburg; and special friends, Shirley Bean and Ernie, both of Lawrenceburg.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Vance.
Cremation was chosen and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Gash Memorial Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
