Rhetta Pricee Houchin Mountjoy, 103, widow of William David “Billy” Mountjoy, Jr., died Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at her residence.
She was born in Anderson County to the late Medley Jane and Susan Emma Chilton Houchin. She was a 1932 graduate of Kavanaugh High School and a lifelong member at Lawrenceburg Christian Church. She was an accomplished artist and excellent cook. She worked with her husband in the horse business and maintained all the accounting records.
Ms. Mountjoy is survived by three children, William David Mountjoy III, Dorita M. Stinnett, both of Lawrenceburg, and Stephen Michael Mounjoy, of Inverness, FL; three grandchildren, Susan Kelly (Gary) Hawkins, Emily Jane (Mark) Scott, and William Rice (Linda) Curtsinger; 6 great-grandchildren; and five great-great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Candy Mountjoy Walthers; 4 brothers; and 1 sister.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel with Rev. Jim Wheeler, Jimmy Robertson, and Steve Schultze officiating. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. prior to the service.
