Jerome G. Hawkins, 84, of Lawrenceburg, widower of Stella Jean Hawkins, died Saturday, November 17, 2018 at Bluegrass Hospice Care Center in Lexington.
He was born in Anderson County to the late Alexander Logan and Ruby Kinder Hawkins. Mr. Hawkins was a United States Army veteran that served during the Korean War; attended Glensboro Baptist Church; spent his days as a farmer; loved playing Rook, listening to bluegrass music, and spending time with his family.
Jerome is survived by two children, John Dale (Barbara) Hawkins and Linda Carol Hawkins, both of Lawrenceburg; four brothers, Alvin Millard Hawkins, Willis “Mann” Hawkins, Jimmie Hawkins, and Dennie (Bonnie) Hawkins, all of Lawrenceburg; two sisters, Geneva Riley and Tillie Doss, both of Salvisa; two grandchildren, Amanda (Trey) Martin, Louisville and John Stephen (Melissa) Hawkins, Lawrenceburg; and one great-grandchild, Rayray Martin, Louisville.
Along with his wife and parents he was preceded in death by a step-son, James Curtis Willard; brother, Tommy Hawkins; and two sisters, Betty Phillips and Ida Murphy.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, November 21, 2018 at 3:00 p.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel with a hospice Chaplain officiating. Burial will follow in Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
