Jannie Mae Polk, born February 16, 1934, passed away Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at the age of 84 at Frankfort Regional Medical Center.
She was born in Burdick, Ky to the late Rev. Van Buren Polk and Ida Mae Turley Polk. She worked for Frankfort Rehabilitation where she refinished furniture.
Jannie Mae was a beautiful person who did not complain or worry. She enjoyed watching her television and reading. She did not bother anybody , hate any body and although later in life she was liked being alone we know she still loved her family. We believe that she has gone on to be with the ones who have gone before her. Even though we did not see Janie every day we all still loved her and understood her.
She is survived by her five sisters, Helen Smith, Altha Spunner Johnson, Ethel Thurman, and Nellie (James) Harvey, all of Lawrenceburg and Margurite Ross, of Louisville; and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary B. Burke, Alice Gill, Edith Russell, and Jenny McKee; brother, John D. Polk.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 21, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel with Rev. William Howard officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. on Friday.
