David Russell Markwell, 80, of Versailles, widower of Chilcie Gay Lee Markwell, died Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington.
He was born in Versailles to the late Worley and Katie Ellison Markwell. He was a United States Army and Navy veteran; retired line leader from YH America; and a former member of the American Legion Post #67.
Mr. Markwell is survived by two children, Julie Ann (Richard) Harlow and David Allen Markwell, both of Versailles; step-daughter, Donna (Rob) Caney, Frankfort; two brothers, Paul (Joan) Markwell, Frankfort and Ben Markwell, Versailles; half-sister, Billie (Rick) Broome, Colorado Springs, CO; step-granddaughter, Morigan Caney, Frankfort; and several nieces and nephews.
Along with his wife he was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Sydney Pete and Henry Markwell; sister-in-law, Ada Markwell; and half-sister, Georgie Myers.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Gash Memorial Chapel with Bro. Larry Gritton officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Crest Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be Mark Morrison, Chuck Markwell, Richard Lay, Bobby Mefford, Brandon Brown, and Scott Markwell. Honorary bearers will be Phillip and Christine Dean, Larry and Rhonda Bowman, Lucille Merritt, Hazel Morrison, Kerry and Barb Markwell, and Mandy Brown.
