Ruby Leathers Case Evans Gabbard, 97, of Lawrenceburg, widow of Roy B. Case, Clyde Evans, and Jim Gabbard, died Wednesday April 19, 2017 at the Heritage Hall Healthcare Center.
She was born in Anderson County to the late Grover Ray and Otha Blockson Leathers. She was a member of the Lawrenceburg Church of Christ; faithful watcher of the First Baptist Church services; 1938 graduate of Western High School; graduate of Eastern Kentucky University; retired school teacher from Western High School and Saffell Street Elementary.
Ms. Gabbard is survived by three sons, Stephen (Ruby) Case, of Shelbyville, Michael Kirkpatrick (Lavon) Case, of Gentryville, IN, and James Bruner (Lisa Campbell) Case, of Frankfort; one daughter, Alla Case, of Lawrenceburg; sister, Virginia (George) Kirsch, of Lawrenceburg; 7 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Along with her spouses she was preceded in death by two children, Roy Kidwell Case and William Dale Case; brother, Thomas Leathers; and granddaughter, Kristel Case Combs.
Graveside services will be Monday, April 24, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at the Lawrenceburg Cemetery under the pavilion with Bro. Steve Wells and Dr. Bob Ehr officiating. Visitation will be from 11-1 p.m. at First Baptist Church prior to the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be Chad Case, Josh Case, Ronda Combs Helton, Dr. Kim Case, Hank Helton, Bill Freeman, Julie Case, Shelby Glenn Clemons, and Jayme Beard. Honorary bearers will be Sadie Tinsley, Janet Garrison, Judy Shepherd, Gary Stinnett, Kent Stevens, Jane Gritton, Charlotte Vaughn, Anne Freeman, Sharon Goodlett, Joann Griffey Adams, and Sandy Goodlett.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the Shelby Glenn Clemons College Fund, c/o Ronda Helton. Envelopes will be provided at the service.
