I was saddened to have heard the loss of a fellow USMC brother. John was a hard charger, always kept a level head on his shoulders. The only guy I know to drink the night before and keep up in a 3 mile run on a hangover. John always had a sense of humor dropped hilarious one liners. One that I'll never forget is, " Don't drag knuckle, Pick knuckle up." I am honored to have been in the trenches in Desert Storm, for you will not be forgotten, Semper Fi my brother. My deepest condolences to the Oakey family.

John and I were childhood best friends and sometimes known as being a bit mischievous.
In early teenage years we began to distance due to life changes.
John was always the adventurous, chance taking, thrill seeker.
I was very envious of his courage and did my best to keep up.
I was always impressed with his focus and passion for whatever he set out to do.
I'm glad later in life when we were able to reconnect again even though it was phone, email and Facebook.
When he shared with me his military combat experiences, I though "Here he goes again being that Superhero" I had admired as a kid.
I was always a bit concerned of his street bike story's but I knew that's how he rolled, searching for that adrenaline fix.
He always spoke very highly, positive and with utmost respect about of his sons and wife to me, I hope someday we can meet in person.
The most memorable thing I will hold on to about John is the special bond he and his father had, I was always so envious of there relationship growing up, they were best friends that could talk about anything to each other and shared wonderful experiences together, I am thankful to have been included in there life's for a short time.
My condolences to the Oakey Family and all who were touched by John.
