George Wilbur Kinne

August 8, 1931 ~ April 10, 2017 (age 85) 85 Years Old

         George Wilbur Kinne, 85, of Lawrenceburg, devoted husband of 62 years to Betty Lou Kinne, died Monday, April 10, 2017 at the Heritage Hall Healthcare Center.

 

         Mr. Kinne was born in Monticello, NY to the late George Washington and Ella C. Kinne. He was a member of Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church; served in the US Marine Corps during the Korean War; was a percussionist in the USMC band; active in the Anderson County High School Marching Band; retired from IBM in Lexington where he was a maintenance supervisor; played an instrumental role in building the Anderson County’s Fire District; spent most of his life as a firefighter; former Chief of Anderson County Fire Department; 32nd level mason; former President of the local Cancer Society; served as the Ruritan National district governor; board member for KY United Methodist Home for the Children and Youth; former Deputy Coroner in Anderson County; and South Anderson Water Commissioner.

 

         Along with his wife he is survived by two daughters, Donna (Bobby) Callahan and Anita (Marty Stratton) Hatchell, both of Lawrenceburg; three sons, George (Joan) Kinne, of Lawrenceburg, Carl (Barbie) Kinne, of Paris, and Mike (Robin Johnson) Kinne, of Lawrenceburg; 9 grandchildren, Shannon (Steven), Anita (Jarek), Beth (Scott), Katie )Bradley), Warren (Michelle), Shawn, Patrick, Aaron, and Lauryn; and 8 great-grandchildren.

 

         He was preceded in death by three sisters, Caroline Kelly, Amy Klecka, Louise Gregory; and niece, JoAnn Dubois.

 

         Funeral services will be Thursday, April 13, 2017 at the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Mark Gibbons and Bro. Errol Archerson officiating. Burial will follow in the Lawrenceburg Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be Wednesday at Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church from 3-8 p.m. and starting at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday prior to services.
